It’s almost here! It’s almost here! The first official day of Autumn is this Friday! In New Jersey we’re still in that awkward period where the morning is sweater weather and by the afternoon you’re deeply regretting your fashion choices that day. I hoping that by the end of the month we are in full fledge fall weather. Bring on the PSLs, cozy sweaters, and hay rides – I’m so here for it!
As ready as I am for the fall season, my wardrobe is still being built up. I started buying for fall back in July during the Nsale, but it’s been a slow process since all the stores weren’t fully switched over yet and most are just getting there now. Now a days I spent my money on staples and classic pieces over trendy items and fast fashion. I put a lot of thought and planning into my wardrobe, so I wanted to share my fall fashion must-haves today!
Blazer | Knit Poncho | Dress | Suede Jacket | Distressed Jeans | Camo Jeans
Let’s start with clothes! Obviously fall is all about a good sweater. I love a good thin knot poncho because they’re so flattering. They’re also super easy to style. Pair it with a pair of basic black leggings for a cozy casual look or add it to a pair of jeans and heels for a great date night look – so versatile. Speaking of jeans, of fall this year camo is big trend and these jeans are perfect for all body types. Also, you should always have a good pair of distressed denim on hand.
My biggest wardrobe must-have is probably a good blazer. I’ve been obsessed with them since watching Gossip Girl in high school and seeing Blair and Serena in their private school uniforms. I opt for a less preppy look and tend to stick with relaxed boyfriend fits. I usually wear them with t-shirts and jeans, it’s the easiest way to look casual cool! Also, I’m a big fan of the long sleeve mini dress. I love covering up my arms and showing a little leg. Early in fall, I’ll leave my legs out, but once it really cools off I wear them with black semi transparent tights and booties. Bonus points, if you wear them with your blazer or an edgy moto jacket!
Now on to shoes, arguably the best part of your wardrobe! I think a tall boot is a staple weather it’s calf height or over-the-knee the boots turn casual leggings into cute outfits, so I’m firm believe every girl should own at least one pair. Also, invest in shoes that will work double time for you, like the nude Tory flats and the black mule loafers. These are perfect for the office and the weekend, so they’re worth the price tags. Once you’ve got your staple shoes down, it’s time to add the “fun” shoes! The fuzzy toe heels are on trend, but the color still keeps them neutral. I’m dying to wear these for a girl’s night out. Brocade booties are so huge right now. Wear them with an all black outfit to spruce it up and add a flair of style. Lastly, slip on sneakers…it really goes without saying. You’re going to spend the next two months walking through pumpkin patches and corn mazes – you need to be comfy!
Accessories are where I tend to spend the most money. I will spend a few hundred dollars on a bag before I spend it on a cashmere sweater or a designer day dress. I just get more use out of my accessories especially if it’s a classic like a Tory Burch tote or the ultimate tote, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote. The LV bag is on my birthday wish list this year! Blanket scarves are great for tailgating on chilly fall days and can be worn a few ways. Tassels are still trending for fall, which I’m incredibly happy about give me all the dramatic tassel earrings! And lastly, the belt you’ve probably been seeing everywhere! Belts go in and out of fashion constantly. Up until recently they’ve been strictly practical and only there to literally hold your pants up. But lately bloggers have been bringing back belts in an ornamental fashion. This Gucci belt is widely popular and I really love it. If you want a similar look for less try a Tory Burch belt.
