It’s summer and the living is easy, so the drink recipes should be too! Over the weekend the weather here was less than ideal, so my mom and I decided to make the most of all the delicious fruit and bottles of white wine in our fridge by making a sangria. I did a great deal of searching on Pinterest for a good recipe that we already had most of the ingredients for, but ultimately ended up doing my own thing. Which meant my “a little bit of this and a little bit of that” mentality was in full force. It came out a little on the sweet side, but still really yummy. To dial back the sweetness a bit I would use a less sweet wine, like pinot grigio, and maybe lose the added granulated sugar. However, I like sweet and this totally hit the spot. Give it try at your next BBQ or girls night, I’m sure it will be a hit!
1 bottle white wine of your choice – we used chardonnay
12 oz Sprit
1 cup white grape juice
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup chopped cherries
1 chopped peach
7-8 chopped strawberries
1 chopped apple
1 . Add sugar to bottom of the pitcher and pour the Sprit on top. Give it a mix.
2. Squeeze the juice from the three limes into the pitcher. Mix again.
3. Pour 1 cup of grape juice in followed by the entire bottle of wine. Mix until you see that all the sugar is dissolved.
4. Add all your chopped fruit and allow to chill in the fridge for at least an hour before serving over ice.
