Growing up I ate a lot of grapefruits. My grandfather had a grapefruit tree in his yard in Florida, so he would always send boxes of them up to New Jersey. Every morning before school I could count on my breakfast being half a grapefruit and bowl of cereal. As an adult I still love them, but don’t eat them nearly as much. A grapefruit margarita is the perfect way to turn my favorite childhood flavor into a tasty adult drink. This frozen drink is perfect for refreshing you after a hot summer day and its pretty pink hue is even more perfect for a girls night!
1 1/2 cup pink grapefruit juice
1 tsp grenadine
1/2 cup tequila
1/4 cup triple sec
1. Juice 1 lime into a shallow bowl wide enough to dip the rim of your glass in. Pour granulated sugar into the same kind of bowl or dish. Dip the rim of the glass into the lime juice and then the sugar.
2. Pour the grenadine into the bottom of the glass. Slice the second lime and add little slits to allow the slice to sit on the rim of the glass.
3. Place 3 cups of ice, grapefruit juice, tequila, and triple sec, and about 2 tsp of sugar into a blender. Mix on high until ice is crushed the mixture is slushy. You may need to add more ice to get the right consistency.
4. Pour the frozen mixture over the grenadine and mix. Garnish the drink with a lime slice and a cute straw.
